Winners trip to WCG finals

Alan Joseph was declared the Canadian champion of Virtua Fighter 5, Alan a resident of Mississauga has earned himself a trip to the World Cyber Games in Germany by besting a field of Canada’s best players at the national video gaming championships in Montreal. Virtua Fighter 5 played on the Xbox 360 after a three day competition that was sponsored by Samsung Electronics and which also happens to be based in Mississauga.
There are more than 400 rounds of games were played over Labor Day weekend and in front of an estimated 30,000 spectators who were wowed by the performances on a variety of games. Alan Joseph is one of the four players on individual games to earn berths at the WCG in Cologne Germany, while five other players will compete as a team on Counter-Strike and four more will play Halo 3.
The winning Canadian gamers will each receive airfare and accommodations in Cologne and the chance to win more than $500,000(U.S.) in cash and prizes at the World Cyber Games Grand Final

The WCG USA 2008 National Finals will be held in at this year’s E for All Expo in Los Angels this October 3-5. The WCG USA 2008 National Final will feature America’s best gamers to compete the WCG Grand Final, the players have a chance to make TEAM USA and represent the United States. The Grand Final of WCG is held in Cologne, Germany, this November 5 and 8.
The game event feature matches in some of the world’s most popular Xbox 360 and PC games will take place on a main stage, and will be projected on a screen. The World Cyber Games with their partners will feature expo booths with interactive displays and product demo. America’s top players will be the showcase tournament attraction at the E for All Expo.

This coming November 5 – 9 2008 the World Cyber Games Grand Finals with the slogan “Beyond the Game” means that WCG is not just a world game tournament but also combines the world to create harmony and enjoyment through the shared emotions. The WCG will be held in Cologne, Germany and the venue is in Koelnmesse Event Hall 8, Cologne, and over 700 players from 74 countries. And it is expected that up to 800 best gamers will fly to Cologne Germany to face other gamers.
About the host city Cologne is Germany’s fourth-largest city after Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, and is the largest city both in the German Federal State of North Rhine Westphalia and within the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Area, one of the major European metropolitan areas with more than 10 million people. Cologne is a major cultural center of the Rhineland it has hundreds of galleries and over 30 museums.
